My name is Derek Cullen and in late 2013 I decided to spend one year riding a bicycle on an Africa Cycle Tour from Cape Town to Cairo. Since then, I began searching for ways to create a new lifestyle and I am content writer, travelling the world and working online.

✈ ABOUT Derek Cullen and No Hanging Around Travel Vlog ✈
In late 2013 I quit my job, travelled to Cape Town and began cycling across Africa. It was drastic action of course, especially considering I had no cycling experience, but I was entirely disillusioned with life and in the midst of a very depressing reality.
As a result of this bicycle tour I would discover many things, not the least of which was a passion for writing. Except when I finished the Africa bicycle tour it was incredibly difficult adapting back to my old lifestyle and the routine it brought. In the end, I decided there just had to be a way of turning my passion into something I did for a living and the only way I knew to go about this, was by taking back to life on the road.
I now earn an online income as a travel content writer and at any given time, you might find me writing travel articles at the airport in Doha, sleeping on trains in Thailand, video blogging from the wilds of Africa or exploring the medieval history of Krakow.
