A last minute trip into Pontefract, followed by a brief stop in Castleford! Both towns were sadly lacking in spots for good cask beer! We still managed to find Pontefract's first (and only) micropub, a beautiful traditional boozer and a pub that serves cask beer from wooden barrels though! I enjoyed an old favourite bitter in Leeds best, a classic in Daleside Old Legover and another absolutely top tier stout! From what we have heard, sadly many of these pubs stopped doing real ales in the last few years as pub crawls in the towns started to dwindle. We decided after the first pub to not stop at any more that didnt serve cask as we didn't have all the time in the world. Seems like WhatPub needs updating for this area!
