Today, India celebrates Vijay Divas to mark the victory over Pakistan, where Pakistan surrendered to India. India's Defense minister Rajnath Singh has paid tribute to the martyrs in 1971 war at National War Memorial. Under the agreement, over 93,000 Pakistani soldiers, who were deployed in the Bangladesh operations, surrendered to the Indian Army. This was the largest military surrender in history after the second world war. The surrender resulted in the liberation of Bangladesh, formerly known as East Pakistan. The war changed South East Asia's map permanently after this day as East Pakistan became Bangladesh.
