1. Order a T-Mobile Prepaid 3-in-1 SIM Starter kit (or get a free SIM card from an Apple Store).
2. Get the SIM card number.
3. Call T-Mobile customer support at 1-844-730-5912
4. Press 0 after the machine picks up to speak with a T-Mobile representative.
5. Politely ask to be put on T-Mobile's $30 prepaid plan.
