This seminar was presented on the Iowa State campus on July 24, 2013. It was sponsored by the Department of Sociology, Iowa State University.

Rituals used to play an important role in traditional Chinese society. The performance of rituals embodied Confucian doctrines and was an indispensable tool in maintaining the socio-political order. This lecture gives an introduction to different types of rituals and how they represented and reinforced Confucian socio-ethical values.

Yuyu Liu is an associate professor from Sun Yat-sen University, China. She received her Ph.D. in comparative philosophy from Sun Yat-sen University.
