Joseph "Jody" Gann lived with several other people in a home on Dolly Pond Road.
One neighbor said her son and grandchild were playing in the yard, when they witnessed Gann throw a little dog off the back porch, and into a larger dogs teeth.
"He pitches this little white dog from there in the air, to this dog box where that Pitbull dog was tied up," she said. "He caught it mid air and went to killing it."
When NewsChannel9 arrived the smaller dog was still there. It was too gruesome to show on TV.
A second dog, allegedly beaten with a hammer.
"He had to be put down his injuries where so bad," said Bob Citrullo, the director of the Humane Educational Society. "Fractured skull. I saw the x-ray this morning. A big indention where trauma was caused. Done with a hammer. The animal laid there with a serious injury on top of other trauma."
Seven other dogs are now in possession of the Humane Educational Society.
After Gann's arrest, the home that he rented, was destroyed in a fire.
"Everything here was exploding. The house was exploding. The car was exploding. There was supposed to be no one here. But Jody had told everyone in the neighborhood when he was made to move out. The place would burn to the ground. Of course. He was in custody. So it wasn't him," the neighbor said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
