After being cooped up in the hive for weeks due to winter weather, the girls enjoyed a 58°F day. Bees don't defecate inside the hive, so they save it up until they can go on a "cleansing flight" on a warm day. They fly out, poop in midair, then fly home.
This was a sight that made me happy. I love to watch the bees doing bee stuff.
