Northern Pygmy Owl, recorded at Jasper National Park, Alberta, April 2022. This was one bird of a mated pair that I observed for a week. Ounce for ounce, this is one of the fiercest birds on the planet. Sparrow sized, they have been known to capture grouse and other birds and mammals far in excess of their own size.
