All of our emotions are essential and necessary. They are designed to make us want to do good things for ourselves in order to keep us safe, comfortable and content (alive and thriving).
For example, happiness and joy emotions make us want to repeat the actions that result in feeling this way. Once our brain experiences these, we want to continue to do the actions that produce this feeling.
Emotions such as sadness, anger or fear provide us with an awareness that a correction is required in order to return us to feeling safe, comfortable and content.
