Former Union minister and BJP stalwart Arun Jaitley passed away at the age of 66 on Saturday after suffering from a prolonged illness. He died after suffering from multiple health issues. The veteran BJP leader's mortal remains will be moved from the Jaitley residence to the party office at 10 am and will be kept there till around 2 pm for party workers and mourners to pay their respects. The last rites for Arun Jaitley will be performed at the Nigambodh Ghat later in the afternoon. According to an AIIMS statement, Arun Jaitley, the legal luminary and BJP's master strategist, breathed his last at 12.07 pm. He was admitted to the hospital on August 9 following complaint of breathing difficulty. Arun Jaitley passed away at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is away on a foreign tour ahead of the G7 summit. Speaking at an event in Bahrain, PM Modi mourned the death of a friend and said that his friend had left while he was away. Rajnath Singh paid the last respects to Jaitley and consoled his family on behalf of PM Modi on Saturday. Arun Jaitley will be cremated on Sunday afternoon.
