In 2021, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Rwanda as a participating agency in the UN Joint Programme “Rural Women Economic Empowerment” built a spring catchment tap.
To help rural women irrigate their crops and get clean water to use in home chores. This video features Alphonsine Mukeshimana, a 47 years old, mother of 8 children who for 19 years has been making 3 hours journey to fetch water. Thanks to FAO, now to get on the spring takes her 30 minutes.
She now has access to clean and irrigate her crops including maize and tree tomatoes. n
