Professor Xiaoke Yi, from the School of Electrical and Information Engineering, in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies, collaborated with Professor Stephen Twigg, from the Charles Perkins Centre, in the Sydney Medical School, on a project to detect and measure ketone levels from human breath. This method for detection is beneficial to the healthcare system and in particular sufferers of type 1 diabetes, morbid obesity and epilepsy.
