Easy Vintage hair: how to make sock curls imitate pin curls
I am too Sick to regularly use an authentic pin curl setting pattern and brushout and so I looked for an easier alternative. This tutorial is my adaptation of the sock curls technique to a vintage, mid twentieth century style. I usually do this in a couple of minutes in bed after a bath. It is really quick if you're not filming it for a tutorial video!
It is also a heatless, lowtox method for creating great curls.
Let me know in the comments section if you'd like to see a video of me cutting my own hair (potentially in 4 snips if I get it right). I have a couple of ideas on how to improve on my first go at something approximating a long middy home haircut.
Which aspects of vintage style do you find too energy draining?
A major advantage of sock curls is I find I often don't need to do a 'brushout' at all. A lot of the finished look of a curl set is down to what you do when you brush it. Here are some examples of brushout tutorials I like. You can do the same after sock curls, though you may need to brush more gently:

I mentioned that I'd give you a link for sugar water setting lotion. I basically use the same mix for setting lotion and hairspray (I can't cope with the harsh chemicals from hairspray). This is the method I use [ Ссылка ] (basically dissolve sugar in boiling water!).
