On May 31, 2023, the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston held a half-day, in-person conference as part of the Federal Reserve’s Fed Listens series on “Transitioning to the Post-pandemic Economy.” This event featured a diverse set of leaders from a cross-section of the New England economy who discussed their experiences about challenges and opportunities following the disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A chief goal of this conference is to better understand how the pandemic experience has reshaped the economy and the workforce. The discussion focused on transitions in the labor market, the housing market, and state and local government fiscal health. Panel sessions on each topic primed active discussion with invited guests. Susan M. Collins, president and CEO of the Boston Fed, and Michelle W. Bowman of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors joined the conversation.
