Ampenan is a sub-district in the city of Mataram ,WNT, Indonesia. Ampenan is the oldest township in Lombok. It anamazing tourist place to visit, better known as Kota Tua Ampenan - The Old Town Of Ampenan.
Once Ampenan was an economic hive and is the central port city on the island of Lombok . Located on the west side of Lombok, this district is a relic of the old city.
It is surrounded by many villages with various ethnic groups in Indonesia. These villages (known as Kampung) were named according to the early ethnic settlers such as Chinese Kampung, Kampung Bugis, Kampung Melayu, Kampung Banjar, Kampung Arab, Kampung Bali etc. In this town, people live a very simple life harmoniously and with tolerance and respect towards each other's religious believes.
