Lebanese Street Food Tour Part 1 at Falafel Abou Rami
Lebanese cuisine encompasses all of Lebanon's rich culinary traditions, an area steeped in Levantine flavors and methods. Despite the fact that many Lebanese dishes contain meat (typically chicken, lamb, and occasionally beef or fish), many are vegan, thanks to the country's love of nutritious grains, legumes, and fresh veggies. Many of the recipes are based on the concept of mezze, a dining style in which a whole dinner is composed of a spread of tiny plates.
Falafel is traditionally made of ground chickpeas or fava beans, herbs, and spices. The mixture is then made into balls or patties and deep fried, similar to a fritter, producing a crispy outside and soft inside feel. It's a popular street food dish throughout the Middle East and Mediterranean, and it's frequently served as part of a mezze platter (a group of small meals).
Falafel Abu Rami is one of the best Falafel restaurants in Lebanon, established in 1988. Located at Sidon, one of the oldest Phoenician cities, a ancient city on the Mediterranean coast of Lebanon and the administrative center of the South and the largest city in south Lebanon. Sidon is a busy commercial center with the pleasant, conservative atmosphere of a small town. It is known for its many specialty sweets, which you may see being created in the old souk or in shops along the main street.
