Did you know that the tilted landing gear you see on many planes isn't there for aerodynamic reasons or softer landings? Not at all. The primary purpose of the tilt is to allow for more space in the landing gear wheel bay to fit larger fuel tanks. The key selling point for planes is their range. Therefore on widebody aircraft, the landing gear gets tilted before retraction.
