After letting the cylinders soak in lubricant for a couple of weeks, I was able to turn over the engine manually with only an adjustable wrench.

Meanwhile, we put an endoscope into one of the cylinders to observe the piston moving up and down.

All of this is looking extremely promising that this car will start and run again.
