This week I return to the Aire & Calder canal at Pollington match fishing with the Yorkshire Bandit Angling Club.
The main plan of attack is to go pole fishing for roach however with bad weather and strong winds forecast, fishing the normal long pole line is likely to be very difficult to fish, therefore a compromise will be required and I also decide to employ whip fishing as a backup line.
Bait wise I plan to go caster fishing for roach however I take a selection of other baits pinkies, maggots and worms, just in case.
The Aire and Calder is deep canal fishing and the depths here are approximately 10ft in the channel. It can flow quite hard at times so feeding strategy is vitally important to get the best out of the peg.
Watch on to view my Aire & Calder canal fishing tactics, and how I prepare my groundbait for roach fishing on this deep canal, following on from the lessons learnt during the practice session.
