China has slammed Canada, after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused it of election interference. This comes on the back of a damning report from Canadian broadcaster Global News, which identified a secret network of "Beijing-backed candidates" at the 2019 federal elections in Canada. Other efforts to influence local policy and co-opt former Canadian officials were also highlighted. The revelation comes days after authorities began investigating illegal Chinese police stations in Toronto.
