STORYLINE:
Egypt's state-owned press has opened fire on US President George W. Bush as he arrived for talks on Saturday with regional leaders at the conclusion of a five-day Mideast tour.
The newspapers, whose management are all appointed by the government, criticised Bush's speech on Thursday in front of the Israeli Knesset for being overly supportive of the Israelis and not mentioning the Palestinians' plight.
The US president and First Lady Laura Bush were greeted upon their arrival in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
Accompanying Bush was US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Bush will begin two days of talks with a host of leaders integral to US goals in the region: President Mubarak, Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Security was tight on Saturday throughout Sharm El Sheikh, with AP Television footage showing police officers and sniffer dogs standing ready to inspect cars at various checkpoints.
Bush flew to Egypt after having breakfast in Saudi Arabia with King Abdullah.
On Sunday, Bush is expected to meet with Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Jordan's King Abdullah II, Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad and Iraqi leaders.
