The Cartoon Museum is located in London and is only a five minute walk from Oxford Circus underground station. The museum takes you through the history of cartoons, beginning with the earliest forms which were on copper plates. The Cartoon Museum has a collection of over 6,000 original cartoon and comic artworks, as well as 8,000 books and comics.
All of the artworks are labelled with the artist's name and a brief description of their work. Parts of the museum are enclosed so that visitors can privately admire the work of a specific artist or style. The Clore Learning Studio is a section for children to learn about comics by drawing and reading. Some pieces on display at the museum are political cartoons which were made as a comment on controversial events at the time. Many cards, books, and accessories can be found in the gift shop for visitors who would like to support the museum.
If you’re looking for things to do in London, there are plenty of options. You can explore the city on foot or by bike, take in a performance at the Royal Opera House or see a show at the West End Theatre. Or you could visit one of the many museums, like the British Museum or the Victoria and Albert Museum. There’s also no shortage of restaurants and nightlife options in London.
