Here is a real Russian Alexandrite gemstone! It does a 100% color change from a green under daylight to purple/blue under incandescent. As a matter of fact, it changes a few different shades of these depending on the light source. Color change gems are fascinating and incredible in nature. The change occurs on the molecular level and has to do with the transfer of unstable electrons that shift depending on the frequency of the light absorbed. It is such an astounding phenomenon and the results are beautiful. The stone looks unreal in mixed light sources and is what you want to see for a nice color change Alexandrite.
