Marines with the 2nd Marine Division Band, including the Jazz Ensemble and Concert Band, and the USO Show Troupe perform a selection of patriotic and traditional music for members of the local community at the 75th Anniversary Concert at Northside High School's auditorium in Jacksonville, N.C. Feb. 6, 2016.
The 75th Anniversary Celebration serves as a time to remember the Marines who served and continue to serve in 2nd Marine Division, while thanking the local community for their support.
The 2nd Marine Division Band was formed from elements of the 2nd, 6th and 8th Marine Regiment Bands in Wellington, New Zealand during World War II. Members of this first band fought on Tarawa, Tinian, Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Saipan.
Today, the 2nd Marine Division Band travels more than 40,000 miles annually, proudly carrying out their primary mission as musical ambassadors for Corps and country. #FollowMeTo75
