Electoral campaigns ahead of Gabon’s general elections are drawing to a close with more than 800,000 voters expected to go to the polls on August 26. The outgoing head of state, Ali Bongo, is seeking a third term in office. His opponent is Albert Ondo Ossa, supported by the opposition platform Alternance 2023. The consensual candidate held his first rally this weekend in Libreville in front of several thousands of supporters.
