Shaheed Udham Singh is the great son of Punjab. He is the immortal martyr who saved the soul of his motherkind by avenging the brutal atrocities of British imperialism. A 20 year old udham Singh survived the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar on 13 April 1919 and vowed to avenge his national insult with the blood of those responsible—at any cost. he dedicated his life to fight and die for national freedom and accepted the gallows to fulfil his mission.
Udham Singh courageously erased the blot of disgrace from the face of his country on 13 March 1940. He followed in the footsteps of the other great martyrs like Mada Lai Dhingra, Kartar Singh Sarabha and Shaheed Bhagat Singh before him and kissed the hangman's noose on 31 Juy 1940 to become a martyr.
A true patriot and a most worthy son of India, Shaheed Udham Singh was an exceptional man whose ideology was years ahead of the times. His adopted name Ram Mohammed Singh Azad signified the unity and the right to freedom of Hindu, Muslim and Sikh and is suggestive of his secular and nationalist beliefs.
Shaheed Udham Singh is courage, determination and dedication personified. He lives in our memories as the ever lasting beacon of free India.
