Little Debbie snacks have been around for about 60 years now. Has anyone ever freeze dried little debbie? Not that i know of. We try Nutty Buddy, Chocolate Cupcakes, Swiss Rolls (ho ho's), Star Crunch and Oatmeal Creme Pies.
Chocolate does not usually do well in the freeze dryer, but what if we turn the shelf temperature down below the point at which chocolate melts? Little Debbie must have some really powerful chemicals in those oatmeal creme pies, because after 24 hours in the Harvest Right, they were still flexible....impressive. My conclusion is that Little Debbie doesn't need to be freeze dried. There is so much nasty stuff in them, they would store for 20 years with no freeze drying. But they sure are good!
