Video shows how to install a Radeon 6970M video card (from a 2011 iMac) into a late 2009 27" iMac which originally came with a 4850 graphics card. And although I don't think CPU type matters in terms of compatibility with the 6970M, please note that my CPU is an i7.

🏥 Defective Video Card Symptoms. In my case, the iMac wouldn't boot fully and would freeze at the Apple logo screen with the progress bar only 50% finished, sometimes with screen artifacts. At times when it would boot to the desktop, there were artifacts that made using the computer impossible. In the case of my 3rd and 4th bakes though, the problem was the screen would stay dark.

I used the following 2 tools to cut the plastic piece inside the iMac, but any similar set of cutting tools will suffice. I just used what I had. But you should try to make straight cuts. You'll also need a pair of needle-nose pliers to rip off the cut pieces, and a razor blade Xacto knife.
