President Droupadi Murmu will address the nation for the first time on the eve of 76th Independence Day at 7 pm.
The address by Droupadi Murmu, who was elected President last month, will be broadcast from 7 pm on the entire national network of All India Radio (AIR) and telecast over all channels of Doordarshan in Hindi followed by the English version.
The broadcast of the address in Hindi and English on Doordarshan will be followed by a broadcast in regional languages by regional channels of Doordarshan.
The programme encourages people everywhere to hoist the national flag in their homes. The aim of the programme is to make the relationship with the national flag a more personal one rather than just keeping it formal or institutional. The Centre even tweaked the Flag Code of 2002 to facilitate the display of the Tricolour round the clock.
