Yamaha RX-V800, 2003, 100WPC. $20 porch pickup during early COVID, and the fourth receiver in my collection made by them.
Yamaha makes a superior product in my opinion - very well made inside with VERY high quality capacitors and components, along with great heat dissipation and hot resistor elevated spacing.
Only downside is that the amber VFD doesn’t have something bouncing or moving, and the remote is required to activate and change certain functions. And all of these early 2000’s Yamaha receivers kinda look the same, don’t they? I do have the remote.
That said, it works great powering 5 sets of 80s/90s “big box” speakers in a mix and match manner. No concerns bringing this down below 4 ohms a litte as it natively supports lower impedance. Little concern to break in or warm up - these are great powerhouses that seem to want to please their owner, like a good golden retriever.
Also - I’ve added more speakers to my array - each have their own personality, strengths and weaknesses. And I drug my music up with some EQ, so you may or may not be miserable being here.
That’s a muffin fan on top - I like to pull air through vintage components to keep them cool.
