A woman suffered minor injuries after a large tree fell on Main Street.
Although the images were dramatic, and photos of the incident went viral on social media, there were no serious injuries.
Access to Main Street was partially closed by the Royal Gibraltar Police, and the Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene.
The Environment Ministry inspected the fallen tree, which then required some work from Greenarc to completely sever the body of the tree from the trunk.
A government spokesperson said there was a cavity in the tree which was likely to be the result of past damage, as trees do not normally snap in this way unless compromised.
they went on to say that while trees in Main Street are checked regularly, this sort of damage is not always detectable.
The tree was completely removed about an hour after it fell.
