Bang bang chicken is also known as Bon bon chicken (and a few other names), but whatever it's called on the menu you'll likely be getting slices or shreds of boiled and beaten chicken in a spicy Sichuan oil sauce. It tender and very flavorful.

In this video, I ride my bicycle along the Jin River in Chengdu. Along the way, I run into fishermen, kite flyers, dancers, ballers, and river cleaners.

WHERE TO GET BANG BANG CHICKEN IN CHENGDU
You'll find bang bang chicken in restaurants - both upscale and not-so-nice restaurants. I got my bowl from Liao's Bon Bon Chicken, a popular Chengdu establishment with multiple locations across the city. In my opinion, they are Chengdu fast-food. The food - which includes every part of the chicken, vegetables, and other types of meat - is already cooked, but after you make your selection (which is all charged by weight) they dress it in sauces. Everything is served cold, which makes it even more convenient for a quick bite to eat. In Chinese, bang bang chicken is simply bang bang ji (棒棒鸡). Liao's Bon Bon Chicken is called Liào jì bàng bàng jī (廖记棒棒鸡) in Chinese.
