The holy city of Turkestan is one of the most important historical and cultural centers not only of Kazakhstan, but also of the entire Central Asia. The mausoleum of the great Sufi Khoja Ahmed Yasawi - the main attraction of the city, the burial place of the great people of the Kazakh Khanate, rulers, biis and batyrs of the nomadic people, it is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
