The UN says that the production of coca, the raw material used to make cocaine has hit a new record high in production in Colombia. With the total area for the crop cultivation up by 17%, this means that it could potentially produce up to 1,300 metric tonnes of cocaine during the course of last year. Officials in Bogota are considering fumigating the crops, but this is controversial.
