On the Costa del Sol, La Cala de Mijas is located in the coastal area of the municipality between the limits of Fuengirola to the east and Marbella to the west. It was an agricultural and fishing village until the beginning of the tourist boom in the 1960s.

La Cala de Mijas is one of the original fishing villages found on the Costa del Sol. It is a delightful village with a restored Moorish tower, a friendly atmosphere and loads of facilities to cater to every holidaymaker.

From its past there are four towers that were part of the fortified line along the Andalusian Mediterranean coast. One of the towers is found in La Cala while the others are located in various urbanizations of Mijas Costa.
