On January 17th, 2022, I chased Norfolk Southern local D36 between Saybrook and Bement, Illinois on the NS Bloomington District. Leading the train is NS #6173, an ex-Norfolk & Western SD40-2 still wearing thoroughbred paint! Another interesting feature of this locomotive is that it is set up to run long hood forward and sports a rear-mounted bell. It's always nice to watch some classic EMDs at work out on the road!
