In this episode of the Real Deal, I talk to the high-profile citizen activist of Mumbai - Zoru Bhathena.
He is the perpetual thorn in governing bodies of India’s commercial capital.
Zoru speaks on the pervasive corruption that ensures Mumbai’s roads are built poorly and frequently. He views the suburb of Bandra as being the worst managed in Mumbai. He calls the slum redevelopment policy as one of the biggest scandals in the city. He believes slum redevelopment is not done keeping the slumdweller in mind.
He calls Dharavi Redevelopment a real estate project as government wants to displace people from Dharavi and relocate them elsewhere.
As a big opponent of the Metro Carshed in Aarey, he recounts his experience in dealing with the former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He refers to the constant gobbling of plots meant for the public that are auctioned by the municipal corporation.
