To install a square taper bottom bracket cartridge you screw it in using the bottom bracket tool and a wrench.
The bottom bracket cartridge should be two pieces. One piece with a cartridge and cup attached to it, and another piece that is just a cup.
Start with the bottom bracket cartridge piece that has the cup attached to it. Grease the threads.
If your bike frame is steel you might consider threadlocker (Loctite Blue 242) instead of grease. If your bike frame is aluminum or titanium you might consider anti-seize compound (Park Tool ASC-1) instead of grease. Read the bottom bracket manufacturer's literature.
On the right side (drive side) screw in the bottom bracket to the left (counter clockwise). Tighten finger tight at first being careful not to damage the threads. Tighten to the manufacturer's torque spec, or as hard as you can.
Next, the other piece is just a cup. Grease the threads. Threadlocker (Loctite Blue 242) or anti-seize compound (Park Tool ASC-1) may be desired instead of grease. Read the manufacturer's literature.
On the left side (non drive side) screw in the other bottom bracket cup to the right (clockwise). Tighten finger tight at first being careful not to damage the threads. Tighten to the manufacturer's torque spec, or as hard as you can.

Note: Not all bottom brackets are alike. Please read the manufacturer's literature first before installing because some things may be different, for example, drive side versus non drive side instructions may be reversed.
