After attending a wonderful webinar this week by #ReadingwithTLC I realized that though EJ can read he may not have a solid foundation with Phonemic Awareness which is important when building more complex vocabulary, particularly with speech production since that is so difficult for him. It struck me that in AAC we start with the most common core words which makes total sense except that when we go back and work on phonics (because it's rarely done hand in hand) we don't necessarily cement the basic foundation of Phonemic Awareness because a lot of the home page core words in every robust AAC System do not follow the basic rules of phonics (want, have, come, do, to, you, some, there, what, were, was, the, they, said, love, etc). I couldn't help but wonder if this program would build phonemic confidence in sounding out longer words. So here we are giving this pretest a shot and then we'll do a few weeks of these exercises and have another go. Check them out at www.readingwithtlc.com. I subscribed to a month of the Reading with TLC Studio for $9.99 and will keep you all posted.
