Dressed in nothing but a pair of blue swimming trunks, the 68-year old submerged himself three times.
Despite the authorities concerns over COVID-19, other Orthodox believers in the region also took the plunge into freezing waters.
"I swam with courage, with some desire to prove myself and because of my faith. We traditionally swim for the cross every year, and it is my honour to be part of it."
Each year on Epiphany, Orthodox believers across the world immerse themselves in rivers and lakes to commemorate the baptism of Jesus Christ.
Worshippers believe their sins are symbolically washed away through the ritual.
