⭐️ 2 Abilities You Need if You Want to Live a Long Time
1. Sit Rise Test (SRT)
2. Old Man Shoe Tying Test (OMSTT)
The worst thing that happens to an aging man or woman is FALLING.
A fall has 3 parts:
1. The fall
2. The damage from the fall
3. Getting up from the fall
To buffer yourself against the 3 parts of a fall, you need:
1. Strength
2. Flexibility
3. Balance
The SRT addresses strength and flexibility.
The SRT was described in the peer-reviewed European Journal of Cardiovascular Prevention.
A study saw 2,002 adults aged 51-80 do the SRT. The participants, 68% of which were men, were scored 0-5.
One point was subtracted for each hand or knee they used.
Final scores ranged from 0-10.
Results showed that lower SRT scores were linked to higher mortality. The lower your score, you are 7x more likely to die in the next 6 years.
From standing, sit your butt on the ground, then get back up.
👉How well did you do?
The OMSTT was popularized by Kelly Starrett and is a test primarily for balance.
Slide your shoe in and tie it with your knee towards your chest.
👉How’d it go?

Most people THINK they want pain relief right now.
I argue that what people really want is less pain for as long into the future as possible.
Aging won’t be fun, unless we prepare to make it fun.
That means training for longevity, pain-free living as far into the 70s, 80s, and 90s as possible.
➡️➡️ How did you do on the SRT? How many hands, knees, or elbows touched the floor?
