Today I’m discussing Edea Kramer the antagonist-turned-ally in Final Fantasy 8. Known by-turns as Sorceress Edea or Matron - she forged a bold step in Final Fantasy scenario writing as a red-herring villain, who helped set game events in motion.

Indeed, owing to Final Fantasy VIII’s story, which relies on time loops, pseudo-science and sci-fi physics Edea and her past actions are integral to the world we find ourselves in and play through - owing to future Squall Leonhart and his message delivered to her at the end of the game… confused? Me too. But it’s a fantastic game story that arguably has Edea Kramer and Laguna Loire at the center of it, as we’ll discuss here.
