I love strange little fruits and physalis fits the bill perfectly. It's sweet and tart, looks very unique inside its little lantern and has a texture sort of like a small tomato. I've been trying to grow it for a while and finally succeeded in getting one small harvest.
I'll be planting more again next year and will let you know how I get on. Make sure to subscribe if you'd like to see the future attempts as well.
Also, please make sure to let me know how you get on if you do grow your own.
I'm told these are actually Cape Gooseberries and not Ground Cherries. The name is supposedly Physalis Peruviana. Thanks for the info Fitztastico!
