We filmed this footage in early October 2022. The water was around 21 degrees Celsius. In these conditions, a thin wetsuit or a rash guard might be useful if you're like us and like to spend more than 20 minutes snorkelling. If you like to climb out of water onto the rocks, we recommend wearing booties. But even then watch out for the sea urchins that look like black spiky balls and can sting if you step on them.
To get to the rocks in the video, start at the Le Sana beach in Banyuls. Bear to the left and hug the coast. If the sea is rough, don't come up too close to the rocks though. The big shoal of big fish that you see in the video, tends to gravitate towards the opposite, right-hand side of the beach.
Our gear:
Masks — Beuchat compensator. It provides great visibility and allows you to see quite far ahead.
Tubes — Spectra Scubapro. Really comfortable tube with a blow-out valve.
GoPro Hero 9 — tell us what you think about the footage in the comments below!
Extension pole for the GoPro — GoPro, El Grande
Music: Stark Goes Dark - The Whole Other
