My friend was so excited to have found this green velvet and ordered it, only to discover it was dress weight. She then had to order more fabric, dress fabric is usually 45" /114 cm wide and upholstery fabric is 54" /137 cm wide.

Not always the best fabric to use on upholstered projects, but certainly a good way to use up that odd yard/meter of fabric. Many of us have some fabric boxed up that needs to be put to good use.
