After standing for about an hour in the water I noticed a few leeches attached to my legs just below knees. I have started panicking and crying. I really didn’t feel anything when it was happening. Panic attack is not a very good friend in this specific situation. To pul leeches attached to your body stupid and dangerous behaviour. Medical leeches was a part of illegal wild animal trade in last century that bring their existing status of conservation in Europe to near- threatened species . Medical leeches prefer clean water, grassy, shallow lakes and can survive between feeding up to a year. They can loose up to 90% of their body weight and still survive. After feeding they can increase their body weight 10 times. FDA approved leech therapy as a good medical device in 2004.
