STORYLINE:
Police arrested two suspected al-Qaida-linked militants on Monday who were accused of orchestrating a suicide attack near the US Consulate in Karachi.
A police official said the attack killed a US diplomat and three Pakistanis.
The police chief for the Sindh province of Karachi, Jehangir Mirza, said that Anwarul Haq, 30, and Usman Ghani, 28, were captured in a raid in Karachi.
During interrogation the suspects confessed to "preparing" a suicide bomber who slammed his explosive-laden vehicle into U.S. diplomat David Foy's car near the consulate on 2 March 2006, he added.
"These four accused have connections with al-Qaida and al-Qaida have already claimed responsibility for this attack," he said.
The attack, which wounded approximately 50 other people happened a day before U.S. President George W. Bush's made an official visit to Pakistan.
