Korea's fruit price index hit a four-year high last month.
According to Statistics Korea on Tuesday, the index for May topped one-hundred-eighteen .
That's much higher than the base figure of one-hundred from 2015.
The number is calculated based on the market price of more than a dozen popular fruits,... including apples, grapes and strawberries.
Fruit prices have been soaring for the past seven months due to a poor crop yield caused by last summer's scorching weather.
Grape prices have risen 14 percent and tangerines have doubled in price.
The government says it plans to secure stocks in advance and put them on the market at discounted prices as a countermeasure.
