A special force with the Chinese People's Liberation Army's 38th Group Army recently carried out a live-fire parachute drill in north China's Yanshan Mountains, to test and improve its strike capabilities behind enemy lines.
Hundreds of special force soldiers began to arrange their parachutes before the training session started early in the morning at a field rally point.
"Each paratrooper has to carry combat equipment weighing nearly 20 kilograms, which makes it rather difficult for the troop to maintain the normal poise, being in the risk of side and back rollovers. Therefore preparations have to be made very carefully," said Li Binghua, trainer of the special force.
After being informed of the weather condition, soldiers checked their helicopters and got aboard, with the trainer repeating the techniques to his men.
The helicopter arrived at the training area at 09:00. Paratroopers jumped out of the plane after the signal was sound. They found that they were under threats of the enemy's firing and searching, which urged them to adjust their poises and directions and to choose the right landing site without ground guidance in order to complete various of missions behind enemy lines.
"The current parachute training requires us not only to be able to jump and land safely with varied types of parachutes, but also to deal with complicated situations in the air and complete certain tactic missions. You have to refrain from being relaxed all the time," said Wen Yongjie, a special force soldier.
The special force has completed several innovative training sessions this year, including trainings of men and women mixed grouping, of multi-type parachutes, and of multi-missions, aiming to transform the troop from an assistant and reconnaissance force to a main battle force.
