Welcome back to The Outdoor Navigator. In today’s episode I am chasing waterfalls in the Daniel Boone National Forest. Each one of the waterfalls I discovered was unique and provided the beauty, tranquility, peacefulness, and that “awe” factor that is a waterfall trademark. Let’s navigate outdoors and check them out! I knew there was a big one here, but I didn’t know about the other ones.

Why do people chase waterfalls? Probably because of their beauty, the tranquility around them, the sheer power of the water, the cool mist, their uniqueness, or for the jaw dropping pics! For me, it’s all of the above. I am mesmerized by waterfalls. Just like a campfire, I could stare at them for hours.
What’s better than one waterfall???? MULTIPLE WATERFALLS!! That’s what you get with a trip to Cumberland Falls State Park and little effort. I discovered three, very unique waterfalls in the direct vicinity of the Park.
In today’s episode I navigated to Cumberland Falls State Park, KY to chase that “Awe factor” you get when you discover a waterfall. The three waterfalls that I went chasing today were: Cumberland Falls (often called the Niagara of the South), Eagle Falls, and Dog Slaughter Falls. All three of these falls are in close proximity to the Cumberland Falls visitor center, and can be reached with a relatively short hike. I did not make it to Dog Slaughter Falls on this trip (I will at a later date), but see the Description below for trail information.
The first one is the big daddy - Cumberland Falls. You view this waterfall with a quick stroll from the Cumberland Falls State Park Visitor Center Parking lot.
Eagle Falls Trail is a 2.5 mile out and back trail to the beautiful 44-foot Eagle Falls. Along the way you will also get some awesome views of Cumberland Falls. It is located just a short distance from the Cumberland Falls Visitor Center.
Dog Slaughter Falls is a short (2.5 miles) out and back trail located just off the main road leading to Cumberland Falls State Park. A beautiful 15-foot waterfall located along a very scenic trail.
